Have you run out of things to do in Copenhagen? Are you looking for day-trips to experience something outside of Copenhagen? Then you have come to the right place! I will take you through 5 Day-trips near Copenhagen. Furthermore: what to do and how to get to them. These 5 Day-Trips from Copenhagen are absolute must-visits so make sure you do not miss them!

  1. Helsingør and Kronborg Castle
This is where the stunning Kronborg Castle lives. You must visit this place, it is absolutely magical. Kronborg Castle is also known as Elsinore from “the Hamlet” and was built in 1420. It was built right next to the Sound (Oresund). The Sound is a gateway to the Baltic Sea and from 1429-1857 Denmark controlled this passage thanks to Kronborg Castle. Around 1.8 million ships passed through the Sound and all of them had to pay toll at Kronborg Castle. Because of this, Kronborg Castle and its fortress became a symbol of Denmark’s power. It is today a UNESCO World Heritage. The entrance fee for visiting Kronborg Castle is 125dkk per adult.

    How to get there:

It takes about 45 minutes to get to Helsingør. Then the castle is about a 15 minute walk from the station. You will however pretty much be able to see it from afar as you get outside the station!

  2. The small town Dragør
If you need a getaway from the busy hustling and bustling of Copenhagen inner-city then I would strongly recommend going to the little fishing town Dragor. Dragor is just something special. It is quirky, cute and relaxing. The buildings are crooked and colourful and have a way of making you feel at ease instantly. When you visit, get yourself a drink by the water, go into town and explore all the little quirky shops and have a stroll through some of the oldest streets of Copenhagen.

  3. Visit the Deer Park in Klampenborg
Klampenborg is another place to escape the busy Copenhagen. Here you will find the most beautiful Deer Park. Be aware though: It is a huge area. So do plan ahead: Bring your lunch and get lost in the gorgeous nature. After your walk through the deer park be sure to head to the Bellueve Beach. It is one of the most beautiful places to watch the sunrises and sunsets – you can even see the bridge to Sweden.

  4. Experience a Fairytale Castle in Hillerød
Frederiksborg Castle is beautifully situated on the three small islets in the Castle Lake in Hillerod. It is perfect for peaceful strolls in the gardens, as well as doing the boat trips they offer. The Castle was built by King Christian IV in the 17th century, and is the largest Renaissance complex in the Nordic region. The purpose of the building was to show off and enhance Christian IV’s status. You can therefore be sure to me amazed at its beauty. Visit the castle and then take a stroll in the gardens for a truly magical experience.

  5. Hunt for The 6 Forgotten Giants
These are some pretty incredible not-so-little things that are scattered all over Copenhagen. You will have to figure out where yourself. There are quite a few of them, you should definitely be able to find a few. You could even make a complete day-trip out of it, and go find all of them. This way you will not only find some pretty incredible pieces of work but also see new sides of Copenhagen that are not necessarily all in the big touristy areas of Copenhagen.
