3-Day Itinerary for Møns Klint

Møns Klint is a UNESCO heritage sight in Denmark. It is an extremely popular spot for tourists. However, a lot of people, unfortunately, do not go further the Geological Center. I have put together an itinerary of an ideal trip to visit Møns Klint – to make sure you get the most out of visiting this gorgeous place. My number one tip, and the point of this blog-post is, that I recommend not just doing a day-trip, but instead staying at least 2 nights on Møn to get a full experience of the Cliffs and the nature on the island.

Getting there

The easiest, most convenient way to get to Møn is by car. It takes around 1,5 hour. However, there are other ways to get to the island as well. Getting there with public transport is not the most convenient, however it is definitely possible. To get to the island by public transport, you will need to:

  1. Get the E-train to Køge
  2. Then you will need to get a regional train from Køge to Vordingborg
  3. From there you can get the 660R or 664 bus to Stege
    * If you are staying in the accommodation recommended below, you would then need to get the 667 bus to Magleby.

To get to Møns Klint from Stege you can either go by car or by bus. To get to Møns Klint from Magleby, you will need to either drive or walk for about an hour.

Accommodation

There are many places to stay on Møn. Stege and Borre being the two most popular cities/towns. We stayed in a smaller suburb near Borre called Magleby. The place we stayed in was a gorgeous little glasshouse with a glamping feeling. It is absolutely perfect for nature lovers, as well as for anyone who is craving a little bit of a get-away from busy Copenhagen.

This place is located on the country-side, and there are not a lot of options when it comes to supermarkets or buses. Buses go 3 times a day to and from Mons Klint. There is a supermarket 30 min walk from the Airbnb. Mons Klint is around an hour walk away. Despite it being located a bit far off from the supermarket, it has everything you will need.

It has: toilet, outdoor shower, kitchen and all essential kitchen equipment. It even has a fireplace. It is perfect for people who like the idea of staying in nature but might not be so good at the whole camping-thing aka not being comfortable. This place is everything but uncomfortable. Everything is so well-thought through, you will not feel like you are missing anything. On top of all of this, the place is eco-friendly and even has an eco-friendly shower.

If you decide to come on a clear day, be sure you light a fire at night and watch the stars with some snacks and drinks. It is truly magical. Click here to stay in this accommodation yourself.

Full Itinerary

There is a ton of walking-trails you can do on Møn and around Møns Klint. Camønoen is the most popular route, it stretches 174 km. Obviously, two days would not be enough for that. However, there are some amazing spots, that I think you absolutely must visit the three days you are staying:

Day One

The most popular spot to go experience the cliffs is at the Geological Center. It is absolutely gorgeous, and would definitely be the most recommended spot to start out with. It is a 10 minute walk down and up staircases to get to the beach-area. There is little “bench-spots” as you go up and down the staircases, so if you are not doing too shabby, you will be able to sit down and take a breather. There are lots of things to do in the Geological Center, and this is why most people end up staying an entire day in this area. I would definitely recommend starting out in this area, and really get the most out of it.

Day Two

The next day I would recommend going a little further away from the main area. We went to a spot called Hundevængsfald. Here is another set of stairs going down to a just as beautiful, but less crowded spot on Mons Klint. It is about a 30 minute hike from the Geological Center. It is so close, it would be crazy not to go have a peek! On top of the beautiful beach area, you will also see some of the most beautiful hill-y fields. On one side you have Spain, the other Scotland. I am not joking. This ended up being my favourite spot. If you are feeling extra adventurous, then you can also continue the walk all the way on to the Lighthouse.

When you come back home to the wonderful Airbnb, light yourself up a fire, have some drinks and watch the stars. You will not regret it. Best thing we did on this trip.

Day Three

Your last day I would really recommend to just stay in the glasshouse, relax and enjoy the beautiful accommodation. Maybe go for a walk and explore something in the area that is not Møns Klint. However, should you still feel adventurous enough to want to go hike further, then here are some other spots I recommend:

  • Hylledals Klint
  • Liselund Slot
  • Slots gavlene
  • Jydelejet

I really hope you decide to give this amazing place the justice it deserves by staying a couple of nights or more. If you have any other recommendations, such as experiences with Dark Sky or anything like it, comment below. I would love to know your experiences on Møn.
